News media makes me sick

I got to catch some of the inauguration hype-up the day before, and I caught some of the festivities while in line at the bank.  Disgusting.  Check back through this blog and you'll see that I don't hate Obama at all, and in fact I think he stands a better chance of getting us pointed in the right direction than McCain did.

And here we stand at the dawn of a new presidency, when the new executive is faced with a social security program budgeted to go broke in less than eight years, a healthcare system that lags behind the rest of the developed world, a tough war in Afghanistan, and an economy that isn't much stronger than when everyone panicked a few months ago.  Add to it that Mr. Obama requested through Bush for the second $350 billion of the TARP fund, the first half of which was mostly squandered with little to show, and some backpeddling on withdrawing from Iraq, I'd say that the last thing I want to hear about is how great it is for a black man to be president.

Don't misread that last line.  I think it IS great for a black man to be president.  A woman will be forthcoming, just like with property rights and the right to vote.  But on account of the fact that not only is that the one thing Obama DIDN'T run on, all the news I saw in the primaries and general election coverage was very pointed at interviewing people who said,"It doesn't matter what color his skin is...I'm gonna vote on who I think can do the best job."  Now we can't find anybody like that?

So today, I'm pissed at the news companies.
