Again?

Sweet Jesus, here is another kid in trouble, in Florida, for FARTING.  I'm sorry, but that's a little ridiculous.  I posted a while back about a kid being arrested for passing gas in class, which is definately a bit worse than a suspension from the bus, but WTH?  The bus driver was having difficulty breathing? Please.  Probably just an old coot pissed off at having to drive a bus full of kids.

First off, the bus driver can't even say for sure that he was the right kid, the one actually breaking wind.  Second, there is no mention of the bus driver telling the kid to knock it off.  Just went home, wrote up the slip, and handed it to the kid the next day, probably when the kid was trying to get on the bus.

I'm pretty sick of people out here pretending that they have some kind of authority because they think they have some tremendously important position.  Don't get me wrong, I think that the people we trust to take our children safely to school and safely back are underpaid, as are the people who are charged with their care and education throughout the day.  HOWEVER, the power bus drivers possess comes from trust, not authority.  Just like when pastors come into my restaurant and expect me to bow down because they lead a bunch of people through some prayers or a doctor who thinks his opinion on food is more valid or important than mine because he went through 8 years of college and a lot of work.  I'm pretty sure that none of it was culinary, but I digress.

I'm just saying, if you're a bus driver and you want a kid to stop doing something, tell him first.  Act like an adult and be responsible.  Don't slap him with a "no admittance" pass to your big yellow clubhouse on wheels.
